Prof. Dr. Mirko Conrad

Prof. Dr. Mirko Conrad serves as Managing Director of samoconsult GmbH, a Berlin-based provider of engineering, consulting, and training services. He focuses on functional safety and SOTIF. As a Certified Functional Safety Expert, he advises renowned car manufacturers and suppliers worldwide on ISO 26262 and ISO 21448.
Mirko Conrad is deputy spokesperson of the steering committee of the 'Automotive Software Engineering' working group.
He is also a technical expert on the steering committee of the 'Software Engineering' Technical Committee of the German Informatics Society (GI).
As a guest lecturer at TU Munich and honorary professor at TU Dresden, he teaches automotive software engineering and functional safety.
He has been actively involved in the standardization of:
- ISO 26262 (functional safety)
- ISO 21448 (SOTIF)
- ISO/PAS 8800 (AI safety)
- ISO/TS 5083 (safety for automated driving systems)
- DO-178C (software considerations in airborne systems)
- Various MISRA guidelines
Mirko Conrad also has over 20 years of experience in tool classification and qualification across industries and standards.
