MES Supports Women in STEM
The endorsement and support of women in STEM fields is one of the guiding principles of Berlin-based software company Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES), which is why more than a third of MES’ employees are women. The percentage is even higher among developers and engineers at 38%. For the second year in a row, MES supported the Femtec. Alumnae e.V. at the LIVE conference at this year's FTAlive conference 2019 (#FTAlive 2019).
MES @ #FTALIVE 2019
The motto of this year's #FTAlive 2019 in Berlin was "#BeBoldforChange! Women change society.” Over the course of two days, participants had the opportunity to network and attend lectures and inspiring discussions on topics such as digitization, artificial intelligence, leadership and salary transparency from a gender perspective. MES attended the closing event, which took place at Clärchens Ballhaus. Verena Klapdor, Head of Products Portfolio Development at Siemens AG was the MC at the evening event at which Christian Berg, Managing Director of the AllBright Foundation, gave a lecture titled "The Power of Monoculture: Why are so few women in the top management positions in German companies?" and Bea Knecht, founder of Zattoo, Genistat and Levuro, presented her lecture "Women in Management - A Perspective.” One of MES’ representatives, Elena Bley, who works as the Marketing Manager at MES said,"It was an inspiring networking evening. Christian Berg and Bea Knecht’s talks and their analyses of women in management and leadership positions were extremely insightful. It was also great to get to know so many committed women in STEM professions as well as the broad spectrum of their activities - a really exciting event." Alongside MES, other event partners included the ABB Group, ATHION GmbH, Robert Bosch GmbH, Daimler AG, Deutsche Bahn AG, the EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology, McKinsey & Company, the Microsoft Corporation, SIGNON and ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The CTO of MES, Dr. Hartmut Pohlheim, stated that “At MES we are committed to the upliftment of women in the workplace not only on an everyday basis in the company but also through promoting events like the #FTAlive 2019.”
